Osama Been Forgotten
At a press conference in 2002, George was asked if he believed the terrorist threat would be eliminated if Osama bin Laden was found either dead or alive. This was his response:
Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban. And now a CIA commander reports, we let Osama bin Laden get way...
CIA field commander for the agency's Jawbreaker team at Tora Bora, Gary Berntsen, says he and other U.S. commanders did know that bin Laden was among the hundreds of fleeing Qaeda and Taliban members. Berntsen says he had definitive intelligence that bin Laden was holed up at Tora Bora—intelligence operatives had tracked him—and could have been caught. "He was there," Berntsen tells Newsweek.Once again, the so-called Liberal Media fails to ask the operative question... Why?
