"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." Theodore Roosevelt

Liberal and Proud

So often these days the term Liberal is used as insult or label to shun individuals for voicing there opinions that differ from the established norm. Usually these opinions are derived from minds that are open and more aware of the intricacies and differences amongest our fellow men. We need to remember to be labeled as a liberal should be taken as a compliment, regardless of the labelers intent.

"What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."- John F. Kennedy, September 14, 1960

Somethings Never Change

With all of the evidence illuminating the greed, corruption, and evil for which this family epitomizes generation after generation, it sickens me that the general public still has not seen the light.

I bet grandpa Bush sure is proud...

George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.
The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy.

Holy Boxing Chickens Batman?!

Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction...

OKLAHOMA CITY — With cockfighting now banned in Oklahoma, a legislator is proposing a blood-free alternative: fitting roosters with little boxing gloves and letting them slug it out. “Who's going to object to chickens fighting like humans do? Everybody wins,” said state Sen. Frank Shurden, a Democrat from Henryetta.
